Cicada Art Prints is an online storefront I created to showcase and sell a collection of illustrations that I made over the course of 2021.
The online storefront was created using Storenvy, and the products available
include the original illustrations, individual 5x7" prints, and an art book collecting all 14 prints together. |

The Illustration Collection
In June of 2021, I began experimenting with acrylic paint markers, and quickly fell in love with their bright
colors, capacity for layering, and the precision they afforded me- even when working small. Over the course of that year, I created
a series of 6x8" illustrations using the paint markers, eventually adding gel pens to my process, which allowed me to render
even finer detail.
The series is tied together by the limited color palette of the markers and pens I was using, and varies in subject material from
original characters and concepts, to homages to some of my favorite films.

The Online Store
My first step in creating the online store for this collection was to settle on a name. I chose "Cicada" to represent
my work, since I think a cicada shell is similar in some ways to a piece of art- both are a physical imprint left behind as its creator continues
to develop.
My next step was creating some simple branding assets to be used for the store website and in product packaging. I created one hand-lettered logo
(seen above to the left) which is used as a sticker on the back of all of my prints' packaging, and one digitally designed logo (seen above to the right)
that is used as a header for the online store and the business cards I include with every purchase.
